Jennifer Lawrence is the heroine of my own personal reality TV show. There are few people who I find it so interesting to observe. Most people in the public eye tend to overanalyze things. They think up a mode of behavior, they try to shape any information connected to them, to build up myths and weave intrigue. I always valued spontaneity, sincerity, and directness in people. Yes, often those qualities are often intertwined with a complex character. Or does it seem to us that a person’s character isn’t simple when they don’t say anything unpleasant to us? A good question. In any case, I believe unselfconscious behavior is the most pleasant kind. Lawrence is the kind of celebrity who doesn’t need to build herself up to be anything. She hates diets, she doesn’t exercise (just like me). And her speeches after receiving awards at various ceremonies? They are a show unto themselves.
It all started with her Oscar fall in 2013, when she got tangled in the skirts of her luxurious white dress and collapsed right on the steps to the stage. The next year, also at the Oscars, she stumbled over a barrier cone and collapsed right on the red carpet. There is a whole series of such events: either the train of her dress is getting caught on the table or she’s treading on somebody’s feet. Some people even think it’s all coordinated: it’s not possible for a public persona to be quite so clumsy. But Lawrence lives as easily as she breathes.
After the scandal of 2014, when hackers broke into the actress’s computer and leaked nude photos of her online, Lawrence stopped bestowing any favors on men’s magazines. Perhaps she was afraid that it would attract extra attention to those very photos. But time has passed, and the actress has wisely decided that while illegal acts regarding her personal property are one thing, but artful photo shoots done to promote her work are another thing entirely.
